OUR PROGRAMS

Big Pal/Little Pal

Big Pal/Little Pal was created to serve as an after-school tutoring program for at-risk children to positively impact their academic performance and social and emotional development. Big Pal/Little Pal meets at the CRC trailer in Shady Hill throughout the school year to offer tutoring for children from pre-kindergarten through high school. An academic review and enrichment program is offered each summer.

Preschool Program

One morning a week, we offer a preschool program for young children who are not yet in school. We focus on early learning skills to help prepare our youngest learners for school and beyond. We encourage parents to attend with their child so they can be more involved in their child’s academic and social development.

Run Club

Every fall and spring, CRC partners with the Richmond Sports Backers to offer a running and fitness club for the children in the Shady Hill community. With the help of volunteer coaches, the kids train to run a one-mile race in the community in December and April. The run club provides each child with a team shirt and new running shoes. In addition to giving these children an opportunity to be on a team, the run club helps instill a passion for physical activity and an active lifestyle and can also have positive impacts on behavior and academic performance.

Donor Tax Break Program

CRC is an approved Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) organization. NAP encourages individual and private sector investment in alleviating poverty. Contributors are incentivized to donate to NAP organizations with special tax credits reserved exclusively for these approved nonprofits.
